Year on year our paths cross many lovely and interesting brides-to-be, and Camilla from Sweden is yet another whose wedding we were honoured to have played such an important part in.  Although living and working in London, Camilla had struggled to find a dress she wanted to wear on her wedding day.  That was until she came across images of ‘Sabina‘ from our ‘Celtic Spirit Collection‘, and with her husband-to-be being a Scot, it just seemed like the perfect dress.  You can imagine how surprised she was when she found out that we regularly came down to London with our dresses, and that she could have one of our designs without the problems of travelling up to Scotland for all the fittings.

As with all our designs, flexibility is the key.  We are able to take any of our standard dresses and alter it to the clients specifications.  Camilla’s only problem was that although ‘Sabina’ was her favourite, she also liked our dress ‘Arran’.  After talking through the options with Grace and taking the time to think about both dresses, she decided ‘Sabina’ was the one, but with a subtle but unique difference.  Could we make ‘Sabina’ but incorporate the sleeves from ‘Arran’?  Of course we could.  So with that settled, the process began.  Over the following months, Camilla then was able to travel the short distance across town to see us when we visited Pimlico for our shows, and as the wedding rapidly approached, her dream dress was slowly taking shape with each visit.

Once a dress is handed over to our client we wait patiently to hear just how the big day has gone.  When we saw the images from Camilla’s wedding we were blown away at just how perfectly the dress suited her, and how once again it proved that the perfect attire for a ‘Sabina’ groom was a good old Scottish kilt.  Although Camilla hailed from Sweden the wedding was actually held on an island off the coast of Finland, yet another first for the Lindsay Fleming family of dresses.

As Scots and Swedes enjoyed the hospitality of their Finnish hosts, the bride and groom were being photographed by the talented StenroosPhotography from Mariehamn.  We hope you enjoy having a look at the beautiful images from Camilla’s and Ally’s very special wedding day.

Certainly not in the ‘Bigger’ household, California.

Back in the summer of 2010 we were fortunate enough to be contacted by Beth and Stephen from California, who’s dream was to travel half way around the world to the beautiful Isle of Mull, and be married at the fantastic Glengorm Castle. Beth had her heart set on a dress which would compliment the rugged Scottish backdrop and stunning garden setting. Meanwhile musician Stephen had his own ideas of how he wanted to look when he married the love of his life.

Living so far away, many brides would never consider buying a dress which they would first touch only a few days before their wedding, but Beth had her heart set on our popular ‘Sabina‘ design, and a few thousand miles was not going to stand between her and her perfect dress. So when she first contacted us, we were able to draw up a plan of action which would mean that the dress would be sitting waiting for her arrival in Scotland, and any minor alterations could be carried out here in Abington, when Beth and Stephen passed on route to Mull. The result was therefore, one perfect fitting dress and one very happy bride-to-be.

So on to the ceremony at Glengorm Castle, and what must rank as one of the most romantic photoshoots we have ever had the pleasure to see in all our years in this fantastic business. We don’t know if the the format of the photoshoot was Beth and Stephen’s idea, or if photographer Ewan Baxter was the brain behind the whole process, but the resulting images paint a unique picture of a very, very special day. Rather than a series of photographs, each of which capture a single moment from the big day, Ewan’s photographs storyboard the entire day as if he was planning the scene from a costume drama. Starting with the groom’s journey across the wilds of Scotland, the story unfolds before your eyes and culminates with the two newlyweds embracing as the light goes down on the most fantastic day of their lives.

With all their friends and family missing out on the big day, Beth and Stephen felt it only proper to have a celebration on their return to California, so they organised what looked like a very special second celebration at Santa Cruz just south of San Francisco. The one thing we would put our money on, even from this distance, is that the temperatures would have been a good deal more pleasant than on Mull.

It seems a long time ago since we first met Alessia and her then fiancé David, late 2010 to be exact, and when we contacted her recently to see if she would mind if we put her wedding images onto our website, we really did not know how easy it would be to make contact. Thankfully, now husband David, was quick to reply…

“ Of course, we would be delighted to feature on your new website, and Alessia has written a short testimonial for you to use.

While inside the church Alessia covered her shoulders with a cover made in Trieste which matched the dress very well, and she wore a veil that was also made there”

To make the news even better, David attached a number of images for us to share with you, our visitors, of their stunning wedding in Alessia’s beautiful home town of Trieste, in North-East Italy.

Alessia, who was living in the north-west of Scotland, travelled down to our studio on a number of occasions during 2010 and 2011 for all her consultations and fittings.  Her choice of dress, Sabina, has long been a favourite of our ‘Celtic Spirit’ customers, but rarely will Sabina accompany such a beautiful bride  (and handsome kilted Scotsman) to be married in such a lovely location.

We hope you enjoy the memories of Alessia and David’s wedding as much as we did.
